You may need to cancel due to illness or natural disaster, your bags may get lost or delayed en route, your flight may be cancelled due to bad weather or strike action or perhaps you damage your hire car \u2026. Whatever the eventuality, it is vital that you have good travel insurance in place to protect you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The good news is that the Italian\nhealthcare system is excellent. Emergency Medical Assistance will be provided\nto anyone, irrespective of nationality. Payment up front is not required should\nyou need treatment however some holidaymakers will be required to make a\ncontribution to the costs of medical care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>EU citizens should carry an EHIC\n(European Health Insurance Card) with them at all times which will entitle them\nto free treatment in Italy. Non EU citizens should check the agreement that\ntheir country has in place with Italy with regards emergency healthcare\nprovision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To make sure you have the details to\nhand when you need them, print out a copy of your travel insurance documents\nand have them with you at all times.
