If this heatwave has made you start daydreaming about spending the day in dazzling blue waters, we’re here to help — with a fantastic selection of Italian properties which are a stone’s throw away from the coast. Whether you want to spend the day relaxing in the sun, cooling off in the water, or indulging in some high-octane water-sports — Italy delivers by the bucketload (pun intended).
Villa Alma, Puglia
With the sea on your doorstep, this villa is perfect for travellers who love nothing more than a refreshing pre-breakfast dip or a cooling afternoon swim. The villa is also close to the famous San Domineco golf course, and the nearby resort of Savelletri has some incredible fish restaurants with some of the best seafood available (we’d argue in the world, but we’ll let you decide…).
Cassina Rossa, Tuscany
Located in the seaside town of Forte dei Marmi, this three bedroom property is within walking distance of the beach — and if you’re looking to relax in comfort and style, guests are also able to use the umbrellas and loungers at the exclusive Beach Club Bagno Vasco.
Aside from fantastic beaches, Forte dei Marmi is only thirty minutes from Pisa and Lucca — with Florence a ninety minute drive.
The city of Carrara is also well worth visiting for a day trip; it’s famous for a distinctive white/blue marble which has been quarried nearby since the time of Ancient Rome.
Villa Giorgina, Le Marche
The small hill town of Campofilone Marche is nearby, where you can enjoy its culinary specialities such as the macaroni Campofilone IGP. If you happen to be visiting the area during August, there are numerous culinary festivals celebrating the local cuisine — during the first weekend of the month, the town hosts the ‘National Festival of Macaroni’, in mid-August the seaside village of Ponte Nina di Campofilone has a ‘Festival of the Sea’ where fresh seafood is combined with delicious pasta, and around the same time the dell’Orto Abbey hosts a beer festival. The ‘Hot Pepper Festival’ closes the celebrations on the penultimate weekend — assuming, of course, your tastebuds are up for it.
Villa Dama, Amalfi Coast
This beautiful Art Nouveau style property is located near Sorrento on the Amalfi Coast, with the beach — and spectacular coastline — just fifty metres away (who said we don’t spoil you?). Originally built in the 18th Century, the property was renovated in 2010 to the luxury contemporary paradise it is today.
Sleeping up to twenty four, there’s plenty of room to take your family and friends — with two bedrooms in separate annexes accessed via the garden. The garden includes a covered pavilion, wood burning oven, BBQ and private swimming pool. To make your holiday just that little bit extra special, a member of staff will be on hand throughout your stay.
