Luxury Holiday Villas in Florence

Arguably Italy’s most romantic city, the capital city of Tuscany and home to the Italian Renaissance, Florence is one of the prime locations in Italy for a luxury holiday. And there is no better way to experience this breathtaking city than to stay in a luxury holiday villa.

The surrounding Florentine countryside contrasts with the bustling historic streets below, filled with quiet olive groves, cypress-lined pathways, and sweeping valley vistas. We have an exclusive portfolio of luxury holiday villas in Florence, giving you the option to visit world-class museums by day and retreat to a peaceful private villa by night.

All of these luxury holiday villas are situated within the province of Florence rather than being in the centre of the city. This gives you peace and quiet in your own space, while still being close enough to Florence for day trips or evening escapades.

Towns & Cities in Tuscany

Where to stay for your luxury holiday in Florence

The Uffizi Gallery, Palazzo Pitti, Galleria dell’Accademia, Ponte Vecchio and Duomo are just a few of the city’s most famous landmarks. Certainly, art lovers will fall in love with the abundance of art and architecture on display. And fashion lovers will be equally content.

The hills surrounding Florence offer quite a different perspective compared to the city and the Tuscan landscape. Finding your ideal luxury holiday villa in Florence depends on whether you want quick access to the city, rural peace and quiet, or breathtaking views.

Fiesole and the Northern hills

Found high above Florence, the hilltop town of Fiesole has been the preferred retreat for holidaymakers for some time now. Choosing a luxury holiday villa in this prestigious enclave means cooler summer breezes and panoramic views of Brunelleschi’s famous dome. It’s the ideal location for those who want a slow-paced village atmosphere, complete with historic ruins and fine hillside dining, while still being just a 10-minute drive from the city centre.

The Chianti Rufina valley and Pontassieve

Heading east along the Arno River brings you into the steeper valleys of Chianti Rufina. Staying near Pontassieve offers a rugged, authentic rural landscape dotted with historic wine estates and dense forests. This area is great for travellers looking to combine their cultural trips to Florence with outdoor adventures, private wine tastings at historic castles, and a bit more privacy away from the standard tourist tracks.

San Casciano and the Southern Gateway

Found to the south of the city, the hills around San Casciano in Val di Pesa mark the official entrance into the world-famous Chianti wine country. Getting a luxury holiday villa here gives you a bit more freedom and flexibility. You can easily travel into the historic centre of Florence for dinner, but still be positioned to drive south into Siena, San Gimignano, and the vineyard routes the very next morning.

Things to do on a luxury holiday in Florence

While the peacefulness of your luxury holiday villa is alluring, the cultural treasures of Florence call for exploration. It’s home to an unbelievable concentration of world-class art. Spend a morning admiring Michelangelo’s David at the Accademia Gallery, or wander the corridors of the Uffizi Gallery to see masterpieces by Botticelli, Da Vinci, and Raphael.

The entire historic centre of Florence feels like an open-air museum. Stroll across the iconic Ponte Vecchio, lined with historic jewellery shops, and marvel at the breathtaking green-and-white marble of the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore.

Florentine cuisine is celebrated for its rich, robust flavours. Dine at a trattoria to sample the Bistecca alla Fiorentina, a thick, flame-grilled T-bone steak sourced from local Chianina cattle, paired perfectly with Tuscan red wine.

Frequently asked questions about booking a luxury holiday in Florence

Is it easy to commute into the city centre from a countryside villa?

Yes, but it will depend on where your Italian villa is located. Our nearest Florence villas are just a 20-minute drive from the city centre, making it easy to enjoy the best of both worlds. Others are further afield but still within easy reach of the city either by car or train. We don’t usually recommend driving into the heart of the city itself though. Instead, if visiting by car, park in a designated parking area on the outskirts of Florence and make your way in using the park-and-ride system, on foot, or by tram.

What is the best time of year to visit Florence for a luxury holiday?

It’s a bit of a cliché, but we think any time is a great time to visit Florence. That said, temperatures can soar in the Summer months (as do the crowds), and these days it’s not uncommon to see daily highs in the 30s throughout July and August. As a result, finding a Florence villa in the countryside outside the city walls is a must across these months so that you have somewhere to cool off after a day spent exploring.

Instead, opt to visit Florence in the Spring, Autumn or even Winter months, and you’ll find things quieter, cooler and more suited to sightseeing! Average temperatures of 15-18 degrees in April and May will usually feel much warmer under the Tuscan sun.

And don’t rule out visiting Florence for a luxury holiday in the Winter months either. Festive markets, seasonal foods, quieter roads and fewer tourists all add to Tuscany’s attraction between November and March.

Can your team arrange skip-the-line tickets for major museums in Florence?

We certainly can! Whatever time of the year you visit Florence, we always recommend booking your tickets and experiences before you arrive. It means you won’t have to waste time queuing and will help you make the most of every second in the city.
