We are often asked when is the best time to book a holiday to Italy. We always advise holidaymakers to start making their travel plans as soon as possible. By booking early, you will get the best fares for your journeys both into and around Italy. Booking early will also ensure that you have the pick of the very best accommodation in Italy to choose from. Flight prices, car rental costs and train fares only ever seem to go up in price as your travel dates draw nearer. In other words, the further ahead you can firm up your plans, the more you will save.

Flights are typically released 9-12 months in advance so if you’re planning on flying to Italy, tick this off your to do list first. Whilst it’s great if you can book a year in advance, we appreciate that not everyone has this much visibility on what the future holds. If you aim to have your flights booked at least 6 months in advance, you’ll be doing well.

In contrast, rail bookings can usually be made up to 4 months in advance.
