Castello Ruggero offers guests the chance to stay in a real castle in Tuscany. It's an incredibly historic home in Tuscany and, over the years, has been the home of many illustrious Florentine families including the Scolari family, the Pitti family and more recently the Medici family. In 1585, this castle in Tuscany was donated by the Grand Duke Francesco de Medici to the well-known sculptor Giambologna, who, in turn, passed it to his pupil Pietro Tacca when he died. In the late nineteenth century, it was purchased by Count Roberto Pandolfini and his wife Beatrice dei Principi Corsini. It has remained within this family ever since and in 1999, Elizabeth Pandolfini inherited the ownership of the castle and spent a number of years restoring it to its former glory.
On the ground floor of this magnificent castle in Tuscany, guests will find a number of bright and elegant living and dining areas along with a splendid ballroom. The latter has a beautiful coffered ceiling, large fireplace dating back to the Renaissance period and painted floor. A large, well equipped kitchen provides all the mod cons that guests could wish for. Also on this floor of this castle in Tuscany is a library dating back to the 19th century. Two large French windows overlook the romantic garden outside. Finally, there is a bedroom on this floor. This is wheelchair accessible and the ensuite bathroom for this room also has an accessible shower.
An ornate staircase leads to the first floor of this castle in Tuscany. For those with disabilities, there is a chair lift. There are three bedrooms on this floor. The first has a king sized bed and ensuite bathroom with bath tub. This room is also air conditioned. The second bedroom is furnished with two single beds and an ensuite bathroom with tub. The third bedroom suite has a queen size bed, private sitting area and bathroom with WC and sink. Please note that these two bedrooms both have portable air conditioning units for guests to use.
Another flight of stairs takes guests to the second floor of this castle in Tuscany. Here you will find a bedroom furnished with king size bed. This room has an ensuite bathroom and is fitted with air conditioning. The views from this room are incredible. It is possible to see all the way to central Florence from here and to admire the city's beautiful Duomo. Finally, there are two additional bedrooms on this floor, both furnished with two single beds. These bedrooms share a bathroom.
Outside, this castle in Tuscany is set within a large complex made up of the villa, a tower, a romantic park, a French garden, infinity edged swimming pool (12 x 8 metres and 1.5 metres deep) and surrounded by olive groves. Please note that the pool is open from 1 May to 15 October each year. A stunning private terrace enjoys views over the rolling hills of Chianti towards the Duomo in Florence. The view is breathtaking.
Please note that rates for this castle in Tuscany include a daily cleaning service. Electricity and heating are included up to 1400 KW per week. Any additional usage must be paid locally in cash at a rate of 0.70 euros per KW. This will be paid on departure based on consumption. Pool heating can also be provided on request for an additional charge. Please ask for more details. Local taxes of 2.50 euros per person per day are payable locally on arrival. This applies to all guests over the age of 12.
