Inside, antique furniture, precious tapestries, exposed beams, elegant windows and doors, original chandeliers and accessories, painted ceilings and splendid terracotta-tiled floors adorn Villa Iva. The windows give a wonderful view over the garden and to the hilltop of Cortona. The interior space measures approximately 1000 square metres.
On the ground floor, there is an imposing living room with decorated vaulted ceilings and frescoed walls. An antique billiards table sits to one side whilst elsewhere there are numerous sofas and chairs. There is also a kitchen on this floor and a dining room as well as a guest bathroom. The kitchen enjoys direct access to the garden.
The bedrooms are all arranged on the first and second floors of the property. Historically, the rooms on the first floor would actually have been used for important gala dinners for both princes and presidents including Italy's seventh president, Sandro Pertini. However, these days, the owners have created 6 double bedrooms and 1 room with 2 single beds. They are characterised by romantic four-poster beds and served by splendid cosy bathrooms in inlaid marble. There is also another living areas on this floor.
Please note that the first 2 bedrooms can be connected if required. Both these rooms have double beds and both have ensuite bathrooms with shower and bath tub. The third bedroom is accessed via the living area and overlooks this room below. It is a loft bedroom with 2 single beds. It has an ensuite shower room. The next 2 bedrooms both have double beds and ensuite shower rooms. The 6th bedroom is another double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with bath tub. The 7th bedroom is also furnished with a double bed. The bathroom for this room is located across the hallway. It is equipped with a shower.
The final 2 bedrooms are on the second floor of Villa Iva. The first is furnished with a double bed and has an ensuite bathroom with hydromassage bathtub and shower. The second is also a double room but has an ensuite bathroom with shower. There is another living room on this floor as well as a laundry room.
Outside, Villa Iva is set in parkland measuring approximately 5000 square metres, most of which is planted with lawns, dotted with centuries old trees and plants along with pots of fragrant lemon trees. A large swimming pool (15 x 5 metres and with a depth of between 1 and 2 metres) sits close to a large gazebo mounted on stone columns. Here you will find a marble table and chairs set up for al fresco dining. The pool is open from May 1st to October 15th each year.
The large indoor and outdoor spaces make this the perfect venue for events and celebrations, not just for holidays. For those looking for a destination wedding venue, this is an enchanting setting in which to tie the knot and Villa Iva even has its own private chapel.
Please note that rates include a 2 hour daily cleaning service. Not included is the local tourist tax of 2.50 euros per person per day for the first 4 days which is payable locally on arrival in cash. Please note that this does not apply to children under 12 years old. Pets are welcome on request but are charged at an additional 50 euros per week per animal.
The nearest village is Terontola which is 3.5 km away. There are a selection of shops here along with a supermarket. There is also a train station here. The nearest restaurant is 1.2 km away and within walking distance. The beautiful city of Cortona is just 6 km from Villa Iva, Montepulciano is 30 km, Arezzo 33 km and Perugia 44 km. Golf lovers can play at Antognolla Golf 44 km away. Lake Trasimeno is also within easy reach just 17 km from Villa Iva.
