The apartment was completely restored in 2011 by the current owners. They clearly have an eye for both detail and comfort but, at the same time, have maintained the building's strong relationship with the past. The apartment entrance is on the first floor and is accessed by external stone stairs.
Inside, the accommodation is arranged over two floors, offering plenty of space to relax and unwind. On the first floor, there is a bright, open-plan living, kitchenette and dining area. The kitchenette is equipped with 4 ring gas hob, fridge, moka coffee maker and plenty of cookware, glassware and utensils. There is a comfortable sofa and a wooden table seating four. Finally, there is a bathroom on this floor. Stairs lead to the second floor where you will find the second bedroom. This is a charming room with a traditional, exposed, wooden beamed ceiling.
Outside, at the entrance to the apartment, there is a small private terrace. This is a great spot to enjoy breakfast whilst you plan your day ahead. However, for us, the real highlight of this property are the breathtaking panoramic views that await you from the second floor covered terrace. From here, the valley stretches out in front of you. As the sun fades each day, you can sit gazing at the lights of several medieval villages twinkling in the distance.
In the grounds of the apartments, there is also a communal terrace with a shade sail and tables and chairs. Next to the terrace is a BBQ area with a charcoal BBQ which guests are welcome to use. Finally, there is off road parking. Each apartment is allocated one space.
It is a 15 minute drive from Apartment Collina Piccola to the nearest town of Castiglione Messer Raimondo (10km). This is where guests will find several restaurants and a range of amenities. For grocery shopping, there is a small supermarket in either Cesi or Piani, both of which are approximately 10 minutes (6 km) by car. The nearest beach is at Pineto which is approximately 35 km away. It can be reached in just under an hour. The Campo Imperatore - Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga National Park is 60 minutes drive from the apartment. This is a beautiful area to enjoy walks and hikes.
Collina Piccola really is the perfect base for exploring the Abruzzo region - from the mountains to the sea and from its medieval villages to its national parks. Due to the rural location in the heart of the Abruzzo countryside, a car is essential for your stay. Should you need any assistance during your stay, the owners live in a house just along a gravel track from the apartments. They are always happy to discuss the local area and help guests with recommendations, reservations and trip planning. Of course, should you not need any help, they will ensure your privacy at all times.
