Villa Anghiari is a historic villa rental within walking distance of the walled town of Anghiari in Tuscany. Set within spacious grounds and boasting a private swimming pool, it's a wonderful base for your Tuscan holiday. Once a former monastery and over 1000 years old, Villa Anghiari oozes character and is a great option if you are looking for an authentic stay in this stunning part of Italy.
The space is split across a main 4 bedroom villa and separate accommodation within the grounds.
The main villa is set over 3 floors and can accommodate up to 12 guests. As you enter the house, you come into an office area. This room leads to a large living space with feature fireplace, television, piano, comfortable sofas, dining tables and chairs. The tables in this room will be arranged in accordance with the group size. This room leads to a smaller sitting area furnished with a couple of leather armchairs.
A step tales you from here to the professional kitchen. This is well equipped with large 6 ring gas hob, an oven, 2 large fridges, a double sink, a fast-acting dishwasher and plenty of worktop space in which to prepare home-cooked meals. There is a table where you can enjoy meals together inside however outside the kitchen is a terrace equipped with table and chairs which is the perfect spot to enjoy breakfast outside at Villa Anghiari.
There is also a WC on this floor and a separate laundry room with washing machine and dryer.
On the first floor of Villa Anghiari, there are three bedrooms along with another living room. The first bedroom - the Suite Loggia - is a lovely double bedroom with views of the valley and an ensuite bathroom with bath tub. There is space in this room to add an extra bed. The second bedroom - Suite Voliera - is another double room, this time with an ensuite shower room. It enjoys direct access to the terrace. The third bedroom - Vocabolo - can sleep between 2 and 4 guests. This room again enjoys direct access to the terrace and has a separate living area with sofa bed as well as a bedroom area with double bed. Again, it has its own bathroom.
This floor is connected directly to the gardens via an external staircase. There is a wonderful terrace area running along this level. Adorned with pots full of geraniums, it enjoys stunning views and is the ideal place to enjoy breakfast or an aperitif. The sunsets are spectacular from here and guests can gaze out over sunflower fields as the sun goes down. In May and June, it's also extremely common to see fireflies in the sky and this makes for quite a spectacle.
A second staircase leads to the top of this Anghiari villa rental where there is a library and fourth bedroom. Please note that this staircase is steep and may be unsuitable for the elderly or very young. This is the oldest part of the house and is said to have originally been a watchtower. The library is stunning, almost reminiscent of a scene from a Harry Potter book. Bookcases line the walls and it is a beautiful space to sit and relax curled up with a good book.
The last bedroom - the Torre suite - has a double bed as well as a good sized living area with double sofa bed so it can again sleep up to four guests. It also has its own bathroom with shower.
The owner has completed renovated this Anghiari villa rental but has always respected its age and history. Original features have been retained such as exposed beams and handmade terracotta tiles whilst furnishings are in keeping with the period in which the property was built. Antique furniture adorns every room along with Persian rugs and beautiful handicrafts.
There are three additional smaller properties within the grounds of Villa Anghiari if required. All have their own fully equipped kitchens, a bedroom and bathroom. One of these is adapted for wheelchair users. All have double beds with the option of adding an additional single bed in each room if required.
Please note that pricing is based on up to 14 guests staying at the villa but Villa Anghiari can accommodate up to 20 guests in total in 7 bedrooms. Please note there is an additional charge for group sizes of 15 or more.
In total the immediate gardens at Villa Anghiar measure one hectare however there are also five acres of woodland to explore. A number of seating areas provide a variety of places in which to relax. Included amongst these is the geranium terrace on the first floor of the main villa as well as a covered verandah and outdoor terrace outside the kitchen.
A swimming pool (12m x 6m and 1.5 metres deep) is available at Villa Anghiari for guest's private use. Set to the rear of the property in an elevated position, it enjoys wonderful views. There are poolside sun beds, parasols, tables and chairs. For more active guests, there is also a table tennis table.
A complimentary welcome basket is provided on arrival at Villa Anghiari. Please note that there are some additional fees when staying at Villa Anghiari. A compulsory fee of 600 euros is payable locally in cash to cover final cleaning fees. A charge of 600 euros is also payable locally on arrival to cover utility costs (including air conditioning). When required, heating is charged at 850 euros per week, also payable locally on arrival. For stays of two weeks or more, the linen will be changed and a full cleaning service provided midway through your stay. A security deposit of 1500 euros is also payable on arrival in cash. This will be returned on departure.
Villa Anghiari is ideally situated in Tuscany but close enough to the border with Umbria should guests which to explore that region too. It's also only an hour to Florence and Siena. Arezzo is just a 20 minute drive and trains leave regularly from here to destinations all over Italy. It's also within a 30 minute walk of the beautiful hilltop village of Anghiari. Guests can choose to either walk through the woods to the village or along the street.
