A note from Jo
This is a great, family friendly Italian Lakes 3 bedroom rental. Most of the apartments in this complex have 2 bedrooms so this larger 3 bedroom apartment tends to get snapped up very quickly! We love how it's so family friendly and that the bedrooms can be made up as either twins or doubles ensuring that guests have the flexibility that they need with regards sleeping arrangements. Just let us know in advance how you'd like the rooms prepared for you.
The apartment was immaculate and spotless. Only minor comment and it is minor, is that the cooking utensils etc were fairly basic. We were ok but a toaster and/or extra baking dishes for oven plus bigger kettle would have been appreciated. Everything went to plan including out train trip out to Maccagno from Rome via Milan and Malpensa. Lisa/Laura were very helpful and knowledgeable during out stay and weather stayed fine for us. Hopefully we might get to visit again at some point in the future, as there was still so much to see.We would certainly recommend Golfo Gabella, its in an amazing location.
We arrived safely and caught the train from Malpensa up to Maccagno – all very easy and so efficient, pulling into each station at the exact time shown on the screen! We used the train quite a lot and had a great trip to Lugano. We also got around so easily on the boat and had a superb trip to Stresa, as well as some of the places nearer to home. What a spectacular place! Breathtaking views at every turn. We surprised Laura and Olga by walking to Luino twice! Laura, Olga and Millie were so helpful all through our stay. We loved the coffee shop in Maccagno and became frequent visitors, trying a variety of their wonderful pastries! The supermarket was very well stocked too – everything we needed on our doorstep. The apartment was great and we felt very at home. The only little thing that my sister and friend missed in their rooms was a mirror! As they were sharing the bathroom it made access to the mirror in there for hair drying etc less easy. Also in one of the rooms there was a ‘dressing table’ for travelling bits and bobs and cosmetics – the same thing in both of the other rooms would have been great, but these are minor things and did not detract from our enjoyment at all. We found everything that we needed when we cooked at home. We loved the pool area with its stunning views across the lake and spent many relaxing hours soaking up the sunshine and reading. We also experienced a couple of what my travel guide described as ‘spectacular storms’ and on our first Sunday had to wade ankle deep in water from the train station back to the apartment!! Very exciting!
