This is a modern first floor 3 bedroom apartment located on the shores of Lake Maggiore. The apartment is well equipped and guests enjoy use of a superb swimming pool and jacuzzi, surrounded by stylish teak decking and luxury loungers. There is also a restaurant on site as well as a bar and cafe. The property is within walking distance of a number of more traditional eating establishments. There is also a beach just a few yards from the property, where guests can hire boats, pedaloes or canoes.

The apartment itself is modern and contemporary and comprises three bedrooms, two bathrooms and an open plan living, dining and kitchen area. The kitchen is well equipped and has a dishwasher whilst there is a communal washroom in the basement of the building, with a washing machine and tumble dryer. There is one bedroom with a double bed and ensuite bathroom whilst the other two bedrooms both have twin beds. These can be pushed together in the second bedroom if required to form a large double. Both the ensuite bathroom and family bathroom are equipped with shower, bidet, sink and toilet. Outside, there is a private terrace with table and chairs and views of the hills. The apartment is accessed via either stairs or a lift. There is a communal laundry room with washing machine and dryer located within the basement of the building.

Maccagno is a popular lakeside town boasting a number of restaurants, bars and cafes all within walking distance of the apartment. The nearest restaurant is on site whilst the second closest is just a few metres in the other direction. There is also a helpful tourist information office within the town if you need any information about what to see and do in the area. It is situated just across from a lakeside beach area which is popular with the locals. The lake is wonderful to swim in and there are platforms cleverly positioned in the lake to swim out to. The apartment is within walking distance of a supermarket, cafes and ice cream shop. Guests can also walk to the boat stop where you can catch a boat to all the other towns and villages on the lake. Tennis courts and water sports hire are also within walking distance.

A note from Jo

This is a great, family friendly lakeside property. Most of the apartments in this complex have 2 bedrooms so this larger 3 bedroom apartment tends to get snapped up very quickly! We love how it's so family friendly and that the bedrooms can be made up as either twins or doubles ensuring that guests have the flexibility that they need with regards sleeping arrangements. Just let us know in advance how you'd like the rooms prepared for you.

The apartment was immaculate and spotless. Only minor comment and it is minor, is that the cooking utensils etc were fairly basic. We were ok but a toaster and/or extra baking dishes for oven plus bigger kettle would have been appreciated. Everything went to plan including out train trip out to Maccagno from Rome via Milan and Malpensa. Lisa/Laura were very helpful and knowledgeable during out stay and weather stayed fine for us. Hopefully we might get to visit again at some point in the future, as there was still so much to see.We would certainly recommend Golfo Gabella, its in an amazing location.

We arrived safely and caught the train from Malpensa up to Maccagno – all very easy and so efficient, pulling into each station at the exact time shown on the screen! We used the train quite a lot and had a great trip to Lugano. We also got around so easily on the boat and had a superb trip to Stresa, as well as some of the places nearer to home. What a spectacular place! Breathtaking views at every turn. We surprised Laura and Olga by walking to Luino twice! Laura, Olga and Millie were so helpful all through our stay. We loved the coffee shop in Maccagno and became frequent visitors, trying a variety of their wonderful pastries! The supermarket was very well stocked too – everything we needed on our doorstep. The apartment was great and we felt very at home. The only little thing that my sister and friend missed in their rooms was a mirror! As they were sharing the bathroom it made access to the mirror in there for hair drying etc less easy. Also in one of the rooms there was a ‘dressing table’ for travelling bits and bobs and cosmetics – the same thing in both of the other rooms would have been great, but these are minor things and did not detract from our enjoyment at all. We found everything that we needed when we cooked at home. We loved the pool area with its stunning views across the lake and spent many relaxing hours soaking up the sunshine and reading. We also experienced a couple of what my travel guide described as ‘spectacular storms’ and on our first Sunday had to wade ankle deep in water from the train station back to the apartment!! Very exciting!
