The Space
This Italian Lakes villa is set over two levels. On the ground floor, there is a sunny open plan dining and kitchen area with three sets of double doors that open onto the large terrace that overlooks the garden. The modern kitchen is well-equipped to a high standard with Nespresso coffee machine, Bosch dishwasher and oven with ceramic hob, plus a microwave. The dining area has a lovely square dining table with chairs for 8 guests, and an additional pine table with 4 chairs.
The large outdoor terrace has an oval dining table and chairs seating 10 people for dining al fresco on those beautiful summer days and evenings. 2 Weber BBQs are provided, and awnings provide shade during hot summer days.
There are also 2 bedrooms and a large family bathroom on the ground floor of this Italian Lakes villa. The first of these bedrooms is a large, sunny double room (European kingsize bed), with double doors opening on to the terrace. There is a chest of drawers, wardrobe and desk for working. The second smaller room is ideal for children and teenagers and sleeps 4 in total in one set of bunk beds and a single bed with extra pull-out bed. These beds can be laid out as 2 singles or put together to form a double. This room has a wardrobe and chest of drawers. The modern bathroom on this floor has a large corner bath as well as a separate walk-in shower.
Upstairs at this Italian Lakes villa, there is a wonderful bright and stylish living area with 3 sets of double doors opening onto a wraparound balcony with stunning views to the lake and the surrounding hills and countryside. The balcony has a rattan dining table with seating for 8 people and 2 armchairs and side tables. The living room has a large modern modular sofa set and armchair for relaxing and enjoying the wonderful views. For those staying during the Winter months, logs are available for the living room fireplace. There is also a 50 inch digital TV with built in Apple TV, Netflix and Amazon Prime for use with your own account. Please note that there is no terrestrial or satellite TV service. There is also a desk for working in the living room.
There are two double bedrooms on this floor. The spacious master bedroom has a European king size bed, double wardrobe, chest of drawers, dressing table and double doors that open onto the large balcony with beautiful views of the lake and gardens. It boasts a modern ensuite bathroom with double basins, bidet and large walk-in shower. The second bedroom has a UK king size bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, dressing table and ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower. nnThe gardens of this Italian Lakes villa are spacious and offer plenty of space for children to play or for adults to enjoy the sunshine. A gardener regularly tends the mature gardens and in the Summer months it is filled with the scent of the lavender plants that dominate the area immediately surrounding the terrace. The beautiful in-ground swimming pool measures 10m x 4.5m with a maximum depth of 1.6m and is complemented by a large terrace, providing plenty of space for loungers. The pool has a security cover and it is recommended that if young children are staying in the property, the cover is closed when the pool is not in use. The pool is open from 1 June to 30 September each year.
For those staying at this Italian Lakes villa for a longer period, the property enjoys all the practical elements you would expect. There is a large basement area housing a washing machine. There is also an extra fridge and freezer, perfect for storing your ice cream and wine supplies! The property has a long private driveway with ample parking for a number of cars.
Local Area
Colmegna is a pretty lakeside village and is an ideal base for a holiday in the Italian Lakes. The village boasts the excellent lakeside Tiffany restaurant at the luxury Relais Villa Porta Hotel as well as a more traditional pizzeria/trattoria. There is also a small but popular beach area here from where you can enjoy a refreshing swim in the lake. The lakeside walk from Colmegna to the neighbouring town of Maccagno is a flat 20-minute stroll with beautiful views across the lake. For nature lovers, the woods up the hill from the property link into large a network of walking trails for short walks and picnics or longer treks that give fabulous views of Lago Maggiore.
Using this Italian Lakes villa as a base, it is also possible to visit the lakeside towns and villages all around the lake. Nearby Luino hosts one of the biggest weekly markets in Europe every Wednesday and has a host of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes. The picturesque village of Maccagno has motor boats, kayaks, paddle boards and pedalos for hire to explore the lake, as well as bikes and e-bikes. At the top of the lake in Switzerland is Ascona and Locarno and the latter boasts an amazing lido and spa. Across the lake and within easy reach using the ferry network from Luino or Maccagno are the beautiful towns of Cannobio and Cannero. And of course, you can also use the ferry network to reach towns such as Stresa and the beautiful Borromean Islands on the Piedmont side of the lake.
In the Winter, visit Passe Forcora, a small ski resort just a 40-minute drive away, for skiing, snow-shoeing and tobogganing. Or visit this area at other times of the year to enjoy some great hiking trails. CIR code 012902-CIM-00014

This is one of our favourite Italian Lakes villas, situated on the delightful Lake Maggiore. It's lovely and spacious and is set in a quiet residential area set just back up the hill from the lakeside at Colmegna. Time after time, it gets rave reviews from guests who find it to be a real 'home from home'. It's also a great family friendly property with games supplied for you to enjoy. For those that need to work on holiday, there is high speed WIFI and 2 desks for working.

This is truly a five-star property in all respects. We were seven adults and an 11-month old and stayed for seven nights in July 2023. The property was spotless on arrival and everything was arranged very smoothly and helpfully by Jo. The villa, the pool, the extensive and beautiful garden, and the stunning view make this a perfect place for a relaxing holiday in Italy. For a family that likes cooking, the kitchen has it all, there is no shortage of pans, utensils, glasses et cetera. The villa is high up in the hills, with a steep and winding (and at some points rather narrow) access road, but once you’ve driven up and down a few times, it poses no more challenges.
The villa was super nice for our family, everything we needed, private with lots of space, very nice pool, very nice view from the balcony on the second floor and so on. But I mainly want to mention the excellent service we got from Jo Mackay. We were having a little difficult time finding properties in the area until I found bookingsforyou.com and we ended up renting two villas, this one for 6 nights and another one for 7 nights. This meant a lot of mails and I always got very friendly responses very quickly at all hours of the day and she even ordered a walking frame for my elderly mother through Amazon. This is by far the best booking agency service we have ever had and I would most definitely book through Jo Mackay again if I have another vacation in the area, very highly recommended!
This is a really lovely place with great views and pool. We were three couples, and it was ideal, including our own bathrooms. It was a bit hard to find at first, but a lovely walk down and up to Colmegna. The local pizza place was good and the Hotel Camin superb.
Three generations of one family accommodated perfectly in this beautiful comfortable villa. The house contained absolutely everything you could need for a relaxing stay and the garden/pool area was stunning. I have no hesitation in giving a 5 star rating.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there: it is so well-equipped and thoughtfully arranged. A beautiful garden too, and lovely pool. Das Haus ist sehr gross, schön und sauber! Bezaubernde Aussicht und schöner Garten mit Pool! Preis Leistung stimmt und Jo Mackey die Vermieterin ist sehr nett, zuvorkommend und gut erreichbar per Mail! Der Ort selber ist sehr ruhig und es gibt nicht viele Möglichkeiten bei schlecht Wetter mit Kindern. Ausser man ist bereit sich pro Weg eine Stunde oder mehr ins Auto zu setzten! Wir würden auf jeden Fall nochmal hin fahren! (3 Familien mit Kindern zwischen 2 und 9)

Das Haus ist wunderschön im Grünen gelegen und sehr ruhig und idyllisch. Morgens hört man so viele Vögel zwitschern, dass man meinen könnte, man wohne im Dschungel. Alles war tiptop ausgestattet, selbst ein Kohlegrill ist vorhanden. Der Pool war der Hammer, alles war sauber und sehr gemütlich eingerichtet. Auch die Schlüsselübergabe hat problemlos geklappt.

From the moment I enquired to the actual holiday itself the customer services and support was out of this world. Jo helped me find the best villa for our two families and all our needs, it was super easy to book and pay and amazingly Jo answered questions on the day before we travelled! The villa was exemplary, the grounds, the pool, the spacious balconies and interior were a dream come true for us. We enjoyed exploring the local area as well as taking two trips to nearby Switzerland. The view from the balcony each night completely mesmerised us and none of us wanted to leave. On a more practical note, this villa had everything we could have possible needed and was so squeaky clean and well maintained! Thank you SO much!
Our family holiday was a great success and not one argument!! I loved the villa, beautiful pool plus gardens and would have been happy not to move for the whole week. It was ideal for seven adults. Loved our evening visits from the wild boar even though we always closed the gate! We all found the shortcut pathway up from the lake difficult especially as it was very hot. We did not need the fans though as the villa is kept cool by shutters and sun blinds. Highly recommend the Hotel Camin in Colmegna as food, service and views are superb! A car is essential but many trains stop at the little station in Colmegna including ones from Switzerland and then next stop Luino.

We have just returned from this beautiful villa. We were 2 families with 2 teenage children each – and the villa was just perfect, with views of Lake Maggiore. All the rooms were spacious, beautifully furnished – and, unlike villas we have stayed in before, the beds were so comfortable! The new pool was fantastic, plenty of room for the 8 of us, and large enough to swim lengths if desired We spent a few evenings cooking in the well-equipped kitchen and eating outside on the patio (listening to the wild boar in the field next door – and actually saw one crossing the road one Eve when returning from Luino). Watching the sunset from the balcony was a perfect end to each day. Thank you Jo for a perfect holiday – we’d love to come again.
I think Bookings for You was an easy partner to co-operate with and everything went smoothly. They answered us quickly and in a friendly way. I am happy to use their services again and I have been already searching villa for next summer. We had a lovely week in Villa Colmegna. The villa was very good, one of the best we have rented, and it was just like described beforehand: very good beds and bathrooms, good coal bbq, very well equipped kitchen, lovely pool, nice garden and great view. We loved the lake and little villages nearby. There was problems first with keys and then with wifi, but problems were quickly fixed. Olimpia was very helpful. We appreciated the good instructions about how to find villa and how things work there. Recycling was a little bit difficult.
We really want to thank you for having helped us to spend a great holiday. I’m not exaggerating to say that this was one of the best times we’ve ever had in a vacation home. The property was absolutely amazing and as my husband and I spent the holidays with my quite big family we really appreciated the spaciousness of the house and the garden. Both adults and children had lots of things to enjoy in and around the house. We really didn’t miss anything and to quote my mother who especially cherished the very well equipped kitchen: “There is nothing in this house that is lacking.” It was absolutely worth it!
