Villa Lucchese is a charming and spacious 4 bedroom villa in rural Sicily comfortably sleeping up to 12 guests. It is perfectly positioned to make the most of the spectacular views that it enjoys of the surrounding valley. The location is idyllic. It is wonderfully peaceful and quiet, offering complete privacy but you are also just 10 minutes drive from the centre of town.
The property is set within 10 aces of ancient olive groves, offering complete privacy to those who stay here. Inside there are 4 bedrooms, one of which is on the ground floor and so may be suitable for some wheelchair users. (Please note that the internal doorways measure 78cm wide so may not be suitable for wider wheelchairs. Please ask for more details). This room also enjoys its own bathroom which is directly adjacent. The ground floor is also home to a large dining area and a spacious, comfortable lounge with a large corner log fireplace. There is also a well equipped kitchen with everything that even the keenest of cooks should need. The remaining three bedrooms, TV and games room and second bathroom are on the first floor. All the bedrooms are furnished with double or kingsize beds with additional single beds and cots available on request. The decor is traditional, elegant and tasteful, and the owners have thought of everything that guests could need during their stay. Outside, guests enjoy use of a large private swimming pool (5m x 10m) whilst a spacious terrace that surrounds the house is equipped with a dining table along with an outdoor kitchen and BBQ providing the perfect setting for al fresco dining. Hammocks are strung in the olive trees providing the perfect spot for an afternoon siesta, whilst for sun worshippers, plenty of loungers are provided on the elevated sun terrace by the pool. Please note that the pool is gated for the safety of children. The grounds are absolutely idyllic and anyone looking to escape from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the peace and quiet of a true rural idyll have a real Sicilian treat awaiting them at Villa Lucchese. It's worth exploring the extensive grounds where you will discover rivers, streams and waterfalls whilst meandering underneath the fruit trees in the orchard and walking alongside the vegetable garden in the 'orto'. The estate is set across two levels separated by a steep hillside filled with natural Sicilian vegetation and an abundance of wildlife not just on the ground but high above you too. The owners have provided bird watching equipment to help you enjoy the local bird life at its fullest, including the colourful bee eaters that nest in the hills or the eagles that soar above you on the thermals that rise up in the valley below. It's the ideal setting for cyclists, hikers, photographers and artists who can take inspiration from the nature that surrounds them as well as being an ideal setting for a yoga, writing or relaxation retreat. For those with infants, baby equipment is provided free of charge and, for those with older children, plenty of indoor and outdoor games are provided for your enjoyment. A shaded outdoor play area is perfect for those with little ones.
The house is set in typical rural Sicilian countryside in an incredibly beautiful valley, just 10 minutes (6km) from the town of Sciacca. This is a vibrant fishing town with an ancient past and is one of the few remaining active fishing ports in Sicily. Its eclectic mix of architecture hints at the plethora of cultures that have made their home here over the millennia. It's also full of fantastic bars and restaurants, many of which serve up the most delicious fresh fish caught each day. For those who love the sea, some of Sicily's best known and most beautiful beaches start from the town, spreading outwards in both directions. You really will be spoilt for choice! For those who prefer the countryside to the coast, drive just 20 minutes North of the villa away from the coast and you'll find yourself amid spectacular Sicilian mountain scenery where small villages, unchanged for centuries, cling precariously to the mountainside. This is where you can really discover an authentic Italy, away from the holidaymakers. For those who enjoy exploring on two wheels, the roads that lead up through the mountains are perfect cycling territory. However, if you're more into climbing than cycling, don't worry! The villa is also used as a base for climbing expeditions on the nearby limestone rocks. Whatever your interests, you can be assured that Villa Lucchese will tick all the boxes! Please note that the villa is accessed via at 1.5 km gravel track which is typical of rural Sicily.
