Taranto

Taranto is one of Puglia’s six regions. Its capital is the city of Taranto. The city of Taranto has received mix press over the years. It is a huge commercial and military port and certainly the factories, iron works and oil refineries that this brings in its wake isn’t conducive to encouraging tourism. That said, there is still plenty for the holidaymaker to enjoy especially as Taranto has had such a long and rich past. Spend time in Taranto’s old town – the Borgo Antico – to see the best of the city.

In any case, the province of Taranto stretches far beyond its capital to the grand baroque town of Martina Franca in the north. In the west it reaches Laterza, famous for its bread and canyon. And in the east it includes Manduria, the home of the Primitivo grape which is used to produce some of Italy’s finest red wines.

The province of Taranto is also home to some of Puglia’s best and most beautiful beaches. Mile after miles of white sandy beaches stretch along the Puglia coastline from the Gulf of Taranto all the way down to Gallipoli.

All these villas in Taranto are in the Taranto region of Puglia.
