Amalfi Coast beaches tend to be smaller than in many other stretches of Italy’s coastline. However, what they lack in size, they make up for in beauty and charm. In short, there are some fantastic beaches on the Amalfi Coast.
Admittedly, visitors arguably don’t tend to visit the Amalfi Coast for a beach holiday in Italy. Instead, those looking for a beach holiday will probably opt for a holiday in Puglia or a holiday in Sicily instead. That said, the Amalfi Coast does have a stunning variety of beaches to suit all tastes.
Something that those on an Amalfi Coast holiday should be aware of though is the plethora of private beach establishments. Fenced off rows of neatly organised sun beds and parasols means a day at the beach isn’t necessarily a cheap day out for families. But I personally think there can be much to be said in favour of this system. After all, albeit for a fee, many offer a comfortable place to relax, with the option of shade if you want it, and often with access to bars or restaurants too.
That said, it’s not to say that there aren’t any free beaches (spiaggia libera) to enjoy.
