Umbria has just one main airport serviced from the UK – Perugia’s Sant’ Egidio aiport – which is serviced by Ryanair. However, if you’re not based near Stansted, you also have the option of flying to one of the airports in neighbouring Tuscany, Marche or Lazio. Pisa, Ancona and Rome are all options to fly into which shouldn’t involve too much of a journey from the airport to your choice of holiday destination in Umbria.

Once in Umbria, car hire is certainly recommended if you are to make the most of your stay.
Another option to get around is by train. Train times can be found at www.trenitalia.it.
The local bus network is also excellent and runs services between the main towns in Umbria such as Perugia, Todi and Gubbio. If you want to explore further afield, it also runs services from Assisi and Perugia to Florence, Rome and Naples, and between Naples and Milan. For more information on times and fares, please go to their website www.sulga.it.
Taxis can prove very difficult to find so definitely book one in advance if you need to head somewhere.
