Cassina Rossa in Forte Dei Marmi was a perfectly located villa to enjoy all things Forte & truly feel like a local! The communication with the owner and her representatives was so easy and they were VERY helpful with anything we needed during our stay. We so enjoyed waking up every morning and either taking our coffee intown while it was super quiet and watching everything wake up around us or on most mornings we rode the bikes that were supplied to us to the wonderful market that was literally down the street and picked up anything we needed fresh for the day. The kitchen was beautifully equipped and we made espresso most mornings and either sat outside on ground level patio or on the roof top overlooking the mountains. It was comfortable enough to have lunch and dinner at home a couple of times and fun setting a beautiful table with their pretty dishes, linens, etc. Having Bagno Vasco the very authentic classic beach club included was a dream and a big savings! Great food, easy location to bike or drive to and the position of our chairs, umbrella and sunbed right next to the sea was great. We were there for over 2 weeks and for a nominal amount he supplied us with their towels each day so we didn’t have to bring back and forth. The villa’s proximity to the center of town can’t be beat. It’s quiet enough to be a bit removed and beautiful to see the mountains whenever walking or riding home but so close to all the wonderful restaurants & very upscale & unique shops. Forte has such a unique vibe day and night especially on market days (Wednesday and Sunday). The markets are so full of clothing, housewares, etc that you’ll need to bring an extra bag or ship stuff home. People come from everywhere to take advantage of it. The location of Forte Dei Marmi is so central and close to other towns like Pietrasanta up in the hills which allows you to experience a completely different more typically Tuscan area within a short 15-20 min drive and it’s also very close to Lucca, Pisa & Carrara (where they get the marble) only 1 1/2 hours from Florence and Portofino if you are staying longer and want to take some wonderful daytrips. Forte Dei Marmi doesn’t have the dramatic coastline of the Amalfi coast but the beauty of looking one direction and seeing the beaches and looking the other and seeing the stunning mountains including Carrara is truly unique and offers its own special beauty. Another plus is that it is very flat so much easier than many Italian towns to walk and ride bikes which everyone does everywhere. It’s fun to see everyone (mostly Italians which we loved) fully dressed for dinner on bikes as it’s truly the chosen form of transportation for the young and old. We can’t wait to return!!

We have just spent a fabulous week in Villa Speracedes booked with Bookings for You. Bookings for You provided excellent communication with us both prior to and during the trip to ensure that everything ran as smoothly as possible for us. The apartment was great: comfortable, very well equipped and the terrace was fabulous with a seating area for meal times, comfortable loungers to relax on and down the steps, loungers beside the pool. All having magnificent views across the valleys. Highly recommended!

Fabulous stay in Villa Assisi - a big villa with private pool in a hotel resort complex. It was very peaceful, despite a very central location, and the pool was a fantastic luxury given the super-hot temperatures. We were able to use the hotel facilities, such as the tennis court and bicycles, as well, so it felt like the best of both worlds. We were well looked after by Bookings for You too. Highly recommended.

Towns & Cities in Tuscany

Where to stay for your luxury holiday on the Tuscan Coast

Much of Tuscany’s coastline offers superb opportunities for water sports, including windsurfing and waterskiing. Opting for a stay in a luxury holiday villa near the Tuscan beach truly does give holidaymakers the best of both worlds, lazy days on the sand and terrific sightseeing inland.

The Glamorous North (Versilia)

If your ideal luxury holiday involves long stretches of fine sand, exceptional seafood restaurants, and a bit of style, the northern coast, known as Versilia, is fantastic. Towns like Forte dei Marmi are famous for their elegant Art Deco promenades and historic beach clubs. Staying in this area gives you a classic Italian seaside experience, where you can spend your days lounging under a private beach tent and your evenings exploring boutique shops.

The Etruscan Coast and Bolgheri

Moving down into the central part of the coast brings you to the Etruscan Coast, named after the ancient civilisation that settled here thousands of years ago. This area offers a great mix of dark sandy beaches, thick pine forests that run right down to the water, and world-class wine country. Staying in a luxury holiday villa near San Vincenzo or the historic village of Castagneto Carducci puts you right on the doorstep of Bolgheri, a beautiful area famous for its cypress-lined avenue and exceptional Tuscan wines.

The Wild South (Maremma and Monte Argentario)

For a more rugged coastal experience, the southern Maremma region is unmatched. Here, the landscape is defined by the wild Uccellina hills, hidden rocky coves, and pristine waters. Further south, the striking Monte Argentario peninsula rises out of the sea like an island, connected to the mainland by three narrow strips of land. Choosing a luxury holiday villa here gives you access to dramatic clifftop views, quiet fishing ports like Porto Ercole, and crystal-clear waters perfect for boat trips and snorkelling.

Premium amenities for a luxury holiday on the Tuscan Coast

Our coastal collection of luxury holiday villas focuses on properties that make the most of the outdoor lifestyle, offering easy access to the water and plenty of space to relax. Our luxury holiday villas on the Tuscan Coast are organised to match your travel needs.

Luxury villas on the Tuscan Coast with pools

While having the beach nearby is wonderful, nothing beats the convenience of a private pool right outside your door for a morning swim or a quiet afternoon. Many of our luxury holiday villas feature beautifully positioned pools that look straight out over the Mediterranean. Properties like The Sunflower House offer great outdoor spaces where you can watch the sunset over the sea after a day on the sand.

Dog-friendly luxury holiday villas on the Tuscan Coast

The Tuscan Coast is surprisingly welcoming for pets, with many towns offering dedicated dog beaches where your four-legged friends can swim freely. Our collection of luxury holiday villas includes a variety of pet-friendly villas and apartments with secure, enclosed gardens and shady terraces, giving your dogs plenty of safe space to relax while you enjoy the sea breeze.

Luxury holiday villas on the Tuscan Coast for large groups

Whether you want a modern beachside apartment where you can walk to the local restaurants or a sprawling luxury holiday villa set just back in the coastal hills, we have options to suit all group sizes. Our luxury villas feature large outdoor dining areas, brick barbecues, and comfortable living spaces designed to make group travel relaxed and effortless.

Things to do on a luxury holiday on the Tuscan Coast

Pretty much wherever you go along Tuscany’s long coastline, you will find the beaches clean and the water a deep blue. However, that said, the beaches in Tuscany do vary quite dramatically from north to south. This means that you can choose between a rocky or sandy beach. You can then opt for either a beach with an established beach club where loungers, parasols and other facilities are provided, or one where you’re unlikely to see another soul. Maybe it’s a dog-friendly beach that you’re after. Or perhaps it’s something family-friendly. Whatever you’re looking for on your luxury holiday, Tuscany will tick the box!

In the far north of the region, you have the Apuan Riviera. Amongst other resorts, this 20 km stretch of coastline includes Marina di Carrara, Marina di Massa and Ronchi. You’ll find numerous beach clubs here and plenty of nautical centres for those who want to enjoy water sports such as windsurfing and sailing. The Apuan Coast is also framed by the Apuan Alps, creating quite a unique setting for a holiday in Tuscany. After all, you can be hiking in the mountains in the morning and be relaxing on the white sandy beaches of Tuscany in the afternoon.

Moving south, you quickly reach the Versilia coastline. This 25 km stretch of the Tuscan coast is famous for its private beach clubs and vibrant nightlife. In decades past, it attracted the rich and famous, keen to be seen partying the night away. These days, it doesn’t have the same status as it did back then, but it still attracts a rather wealthy, upmarket set. Resorts along the Versilia coast include Forte dei Marmi, Marina di Pietrasanta, Lido di Camaiore, Viareggio and Torre del Lago. If you’re into surfing, then this is the best place to ride those waves! Just be aware that, whilst the water is clean, due to the currents in this area, it can often look rather brown and murky during the peak Summer months.

Frequently asked questions about booking a luxury holiday on the Tuscan Coast

Are the beaches in Tuscany sandy or rocky?

Both! In the north, along Tuscany’s Versilia coastline, the beaches of Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi are famous for their long, flat, sandy beaches. You’ll find these lined with beach clubs neatly packed with sun loungers and parasols. Likewise, in the southern Maremma region of Tuscany, beaches are similarly sandy but tend to be more rugged and wild. In between the two, in the Etruscan coast from Livorno to Piombino, you will find much more of a mix of sand, rocky coves and pebbled bays.

Can we easily visit Florence or Pisa from the coast?

Yes – Tuscany has a good train network that will get you quickly and easily from the coast to cities such as Pisa and Florence. In fact, Pisa can be reached in as little as just 15 minutes from the coastal town of Viareggio. The journey to Florence takes just over an hour. Even by car, it’s only a 90-minute drive from the coast to the very heart of the city. This makes the Tuscan coast an ideal villa holiday destination for those who crave time on the beach but don’t want to miss out on sightseeing.

How far are the hillside villas from the actual beach?

Bookings For You has villas such as Cassina Rossa in Forte dei Marmi, which is within walking distance of the sea and even comes with beach club access. Or opt for Villa Benedetta in Porto Ercole, just a 10-minute walk from the harbour. Alternatively, if you prefer a hillside villa in the countryside, we have a number of villas such as the Sunflower House, which are in the heart of rural Tuscany but are less than a 30-minute drive from the nearest beaches.
