This ancient cottage in Tuscany dates back to the 7th century and we absolutely love it! Whilst the exterior might be original, the interior certainly isn't!
The property itself is set on a hill above an old Roman road on an estate that covers an area of over 170 acres, filled with acre on acre of Chianti vineyards. The gardens immediately surrounding the villa are immaculately kept in the style of an English country garden, filled with an incredible array of flowers which provide a mass of vivid colours throughout the Spring and Summer. The private pool (11 x 5 metres) is gated to provide families with extra peace of mind whilst for those with little ones, the children will fall in love with the magical tree house and play area. And all members of the family will delight in the organic kitchen garden filled with fresh fruit and vegetables. Please note that access to the property is accessed via an unpaved road. It is a distance of 3.5 km from the main road to the villa along this track. Inside the house, there are thee comfortable double rooms each with large ensuite bathrooms, two with showers and one with both shower and free standing bath tub. Each has its unique style. Two have kingsize beds whilst the third has a queen size bed. There is also a spacious, professionally equipped kitchen with large oven, hob, toaster, microwave and dishwasher. There is also a dining room and living room furnished with comfortable sofas. Step out on the roof terrace to enjoy the spectacular views over the surrounding countryside. This may be an ancient property but it really has been brought up to date with 21st century mod cons including under floor heating, air conditioning and WIFI.
The cottage sits in the very heart of the Chianti countryside. The nearest towns are Radda in Chianti and Panzano in Chianti. Both are approximately 7 kilometres away and have a selection of shops, supermarkets and restaurants. You're also surrounded by small, delightful villages where time seems to have stopped for centuries. They are the perfect places to discover authentic artisan shops and delicious Tuscan produce. The larger cities are also within easy reach - Florence is 35 km away and Siena just 40 km away.
A note from Jo
This is a stunning property. But guests should be aware that it is situated in the heart of a working vineyard and operational cellar so on week days, guests may find workers in the surrounding fields and around the cellars as well as tourists visiting the tasting rooms. But don't let this put you off. We are certain you'll fall in love with Villa Maggia if you choose this villa in Tuscany for your next holiday!
