Villa Belago is a luxury 4 bedroom Lake Como villa situated in the pretty village of Bellano. The accommodation is split across a 1 bedroom studio / annex and a 3 bedroom house which is built into the hillside overlooking the lake. This house is arranged over a number of levels and the interior layout has been designed to ensure guests can make the most of the incredible lake views as much as possible.
At ground level with the road there is a garage which provides access into the main house via an office on a mezzanine floor. For those who can't avoid having to work during their stay, you can be reassured that the lake views from the desk will provide more than ample inspiration to get the work completed as quickly as possible! The garage can comfortably accommodate two cars and there is also an additional outdoor parking space.
Guests then move down to the first floor where there is a stunning open plan kitchen, living and dining room. The kitchen is well equipped with sleek red and white units. Bar stools arranged along the main workspace means that the everyone can socialise easily whilst food is being prepared! There is also a dining table in this area that can seat up to eight as well as a large sofa and a separate pantry providing plenty of storage space. There is a fireplace for those staying during the cooler months (wood is provided) and a TV for lazy nights in. This is a fantastic entertainment space. Doors lead out from here to a beautiful terrace which is furnished with an outdoor table seating up to 8, perfect for al fresco dining.
Two of the bedrooms are also on this floor along with a bathroom with shower, sink, bidet and WC. Both these bedrooms are furnished with double beds and plenty of storage. One enjoys stunning views of the lake.
Down another flight of stairs is the master bedroom with walk-in wardrobe and ensuite bathroom. This is a super stylish space with a sunken bath and 'his and her' sinks incorporated into the main room whilst the WC and bidet are firmly behind closed doors! The laundry room is also located on this floor along with the sauna.
The studio enjoys completely independent access from the main villa. It is a great space, furnished in a stylish contemporary design and with plenty of use of natural materials to create a warm and inviting space. It can sleep up to 2 people on a double sofa bed and is also furnished with a fully equipped kitchen and dining table for four. Like in the main house, this space also has a fireplace for cosy nights in along with a TV and the whole space enjoys floor to ceiling windows making the most of the great lake views beyond. A small terrace enjoys lake views. The set up works brilliantly for a multi-generation family holiday, with the grandparents often using this space whilst the parents and child take the main villa.
Down one more level is the swimming pool and solarium which again boasts wonderful lake views. The solarium is furnished with more seating along with sun loungers. Pot plants and shrubs add to the relaxing atmosphere. The stunning private pool (10m x 3.5m) is also equipped with massage jets and current function should you wish to have a more challenging swim.
Please note that the house is unsuitable for young children due to some of the design features that means that not all staircases have banisters and there are open railings on some of the floors. We recommend it is suitable aged 10 and above but please contact us for more details. For those guests who only require 3 bedrooms and do not need the use of the additional studio apartment, we may be able to provide a discount on normal rates. Please contact us for more information.
The villa is ideally placed for exploring the area. It is just a 5 minute walk from the famous Orrido di Bellano, a stunning natural gorge and waterfall dating back millions of years and there are plenty of other beautiful walks and hikes to enjoy here too. It is also just a 15 minute walk (or 5 minute drive) to the lakeside and to the boat terminal in Bellano from where you can catch a boat to a number of other towns and villages on Lake Como. Bellano boasts a number of shops and restaurants and also has a couple of supermarkets for your weekly shop. There is a beach here too should you fancy a change from lounging by the pool! Alternatively, a footpath which starts just a minute from the villa will take you on a pleasant walk down to Varenna, one of our favourite villages on the lake which boasts an excellent choice of restaurants. Or again, it is just a 5 minute drive to here from the villa. From Varenna you also have the option of using the car ferry as well as being a foot passenger. If you're looking to explore larger towns and cities, then Milan is just over an hour away by car and the Swiss city of Lugano on neighbouring Lake Lugano is just under a 90 minute drive. This has a glamorous nightlife scene with the rich and famous attracted here by the high end designer shops, upmarket restaurants and casino. This is also a great area for sports enthusiasts. In the Summer months, sailing, windsurfing and skysurfing are all possible in Bellano and Dervio. And we can definitely recommend hiring a boat at the Bellano marina and getting out on the water for yourself. For those visiting in the Winter months, the nearest ski slopes are at the Skilift Alpe Giumello ski resort which is 40 minutes away by car. The longer slopes of Saint Morritz in Switzerland are an hour and 40 minute drive away. The nearest airports are Milan Malpensa and Milan Linate which are between a 60 and 80 minute drive away. As you can easily walk to nearby amenities, it is also possible to stay here without a car in which case you can catch a train to Bellano. The station here is a 5 minute walk from the villa.
