This is a luxury Italian Lakes villa set atop a hill on the beautiful Lake Maggiore, enjoying stunning lake views on one side and dramatic views over the village of Brezzo di Bedero on the other. With a private pool and extensive, well kept gardens, it's an idyllic setting for a holiday with family or friends in this part of Italy.

As you enter this luxury Italian Lakes villa, you come into a welcoming living area, equipped with comfortable sofas and chairs. There is a TV system with satellite channels, as well as plenty of books to read and enjoy. Doors lead through to a dining room with large wooden dining table. Doors lead through from here to a light and airy kitchen. There is also a bathroom on this floor with toilet and sink.

A flight of stairs leads to the main bedroom area. There are 2 bedrooms on the first floor. The first is the master bedroom which enjoys views over the nearby village. This room has an ensuite bathroom with large corner bath and 'his and her' sinks. The second bedroom on this floor is also a double room. With built in wardrobes on each side of the bed, there is ample storage for guests clothes and cases. Doors lead from this bedroom to a lovely balcony area. There is also an office on this floor. The desk is positioned to make the most of the dramatic lake views which is certainly a pleasant distraction from work! At the end of the landing on this floor doors open out to a balcony area overlooking the pool and gardens and beyond to the beautiful Monte Rosa and stunning lake waters.

Up a second flight of stairs in this luxury Italian Lakes villa, guests will find 2 more bedrooms. One is a suite with double bed as well as a separate living area. The other is a double bedroom. Please note that these rooms are built into the eaves of the property but there is plenty of ceiling height for even taller visitors. There is also a bathroom on this floor, again with corner bath and with a separate shower.

In the basement of the property is a laundry room with both washing machine and tumble dryer, ideal for those enjoying a longer stay at the property.

There is a separate dependence just a few steps from the main building at this luxury Italian Lakes villa. This has it's own large living area. Doors from the living area lead off to 2 bedrooms (one with double bed and one with single bed), a bathroom with corner bath and small kitchen. It's an ideal arrangement for those staying with extended family, or with friends, allowing different groups to enjoy privacy whilst still holidaying as part of a larger group.

The outside areas of the property are extensive measuring nearly 40,000 square metres. Gardens surround the property and are set over at least 5 levels. Paths have been created so that guests can wander around the gardens at their leisure to enjoy and admire the wonderful plants, flowers and shrubs.

The pool (12 m x 6m with a depth of 1.80 metres) is heated using solar panels and is set in front of the house, making the most of the spectacular views at this luxury Italian Lakes villa. There are plenty of loungers for lazy days in the sun.

There is also a superb covered terrace, equipped with BBQ, perfect for al fresco dining. This has again been positioned to make the most of the panoramic views.

The gardens are full of mature trees and shrubs providing welcome shade in the hot Summer months. The hydrangeas are stunning when in bloom and there are rows upon rows of scented laurels. The entire garden is fenced, ensuring absolute privacy for guests.

There is a full time gardener tending the gardens at this luxury Italian Lakes villa. He will also maintain the pool daily, and ensure that loungers and towels are laid out for guests by the pool each day. A housekeeping service is also provided with a maid service of 2-3 hours approximately 2 or 3 times a week.

Please note that we may be able to offer a discounted rate for groups of eight people or less wanting to stay at this luxury Italian Lakes villa. Please ask for more details.

This luxury Italian Lakes villa is situated in the sought after village of Brezzo di Bedero. You can walk into the lovely village of Brezzo di Bedero. Whilst small there is a little play park here as well as a great pizzeria which is very popular with the locals! nnOtherwise, for a greater range of restaurants and amenities, it's just a few minutes drive down the hill from this luxury Italian Lakes villa to the lakeside. Here there is a large Carrefour supermarket as well as a range of smaller shops and restaurants to choose from.

A note from Jo

This is a stunning luxury Italian Lakes villa. It almost reminds us of a traditional dolls house in its style and it's a wonderful place for large groups of family and friends to holiday together. The owners are passionate gardeners and spend much of their time in the run up to the rental season in ensuring that the gardens will be immaculately presented for guests whether staying in the Spring, Summer or Autumn.

Villa Castellaccio is a beautiful, tastefully decorated home at the top of a hill of a quiet village. The views from the villa are breathtaking. It’s a perfect vacation home to relax and rejuvenate. The location is ideal — it’s private yet close enough for a short drive to town for basic needs like groceries, cafes, bakeries.

The kitchen is well-equipped for long-stays. For groups who love to gather around food, the main house’s kitchen will easily be the heart of your stay especially for those who love to cook. The kitchen is efficiently-designed. And if you don’t want to cook, a local chef (Marco) can go to the villa. We asked him to cook for us to celebrate our final evening.

We rented the villa in mid-August 2023 just as Europe was experiencing extraordinary high temperatures. The pool provided ideal refuge from the heat. Something to keep in mind: the dependence tends to trap more heat than the main house. It’s something to note when assigning who stays in what room to ensure everyone is comfortable.

We celebrated three birthdays while staying there. It has an amazing outdoor dining area overlooking the lake with a beautiful stone table that could easily seat 10. We held one of our dinners there just as the sun set. Magical and dreamy.

For lovers of history, the villa has an interesting story. According to the villa owner’s welcome note, the villa used to be owned by the Princes of Borromeo and was home to their mistresses.

The team — from Jo to the owners to Olimpia (the local contact) to Natascha and her husband (the team who handles daily upkeep of the property) — is very responsive to any concerns you may have. Our thanks and appreciation to the entire team.

Villa Castellaccio is a vacation home you would want to keep going back to.
