Doors lead through from here to a light and airy kitchen. There is also a bathroom on this floor with toilet and sink.
A flight of stairs leads to the main bedroom area. There are 2 bedrooms on the first floor. The first is the master bedroom which enjoys views over the nearby village. A note from Jo
This is a stunning luxury Italian Lakes villa. It almost reminds us of a traditional dolls house in its style and it's a wonderful place for large groups of family and friends to holiday together. The owners are passionate gardeners and spend much of their time in the run up to the rental season in ensuring that the gardens will be immaculately presented for guests whether staying in the Spring, Summer or Autumn.

Villa Castellaccio is a beautiful, tastefully decorated home at the top of a hill of a quiet village. The views from the villa are breathtaking. It’s a perfect vacation home to relax and rejuvenate. The location is ideal — it’s private yet close enough for a short drive to town for basic needs like groceries, cafes, bakeries.
The kitchen is well-equipped for long-stays. For groups who love to gather around food, the main house’s kitchen will easily be the heart of your stay especially for those who love to cook. The kitchen is efficiently-designed. And if you don’t want to cook, a local chef (Marco) can go to the villa. We asked him to cook for us to celebrate our final evening.
We rented the villa in mid-August 2023 just as Europe was experiencing extraordinary high temperatures. The pool provided ideal refuge from the heat. Something to keep in mind: the dependence tends to trap more heat than the main house. It’s something to note when assigning who stays in what room to ensure everyone is comfortable.
We celebrated three birthdays while staying there. It has an amazing outdoor dining area overlooking the lake with a beautiful stone table that could easily seat 10. We held one of our dinners there just as the sun set. Magical and dreamy.
For lovers of history, the villa has an interesting story. According to the villa owner’s welcome note, the villa used to be owned by the Princes of Borromeo and was home to their mistresses.
The team — from Jo to the owners to Olimpia (the local contact) to Natascha and her husband (the team who handles daily upkeep of the property) — is very responsive to any concerns you may have. Our thanks and appreciation to the entire team.
Villa Castellaccio is a vacation home you would want to keep going back to.
